Choosing the right Hoopomania beginner hoop

  • Measure from the floor to the belly button to choose the right diameter
  • The hoop should reach to the belly button, especially for beginners
  • As a beginner, it is easier to hoop with a heavier hoop of 500 grams or more
  • As an advanced hooper, lighter hoops can also be used, e.g. for hoop dance choreographies

The start
All beginnings can be difficult - just don't get discouraged if it doesn't work right away! With a little practice you can improve every day and soon it will no longer be a problem to hold the Hula Hoop up.

  • Stand hip-width apart and hold the hoop firmly in both hands, resting against the back
  • With a lot of momentum, bring the hoop into a circle with your hands
  • In this way, the hoop swings around the waist a few times without moving and you can get a first feel for it

The hip movement

  • CAUTION! Do not make circular movements with the hips - this is often a beginner's mistake
  • Perform the movement with the hips from left to right or right to left
  • Alternatively, place one leg a little further forward and then perform the movement from front to back and vice versa
  • As soon as the hooping works and the hoop stays up, always hoop in the other direction as well (it is quite normal that one side is easier, with a little practice the other side will soon be no longer a problem)

The training time

  • To learn how to hoop, it is best to practice swinging for about 10 minutes a day until the hoop can finally be held up for the full 10 minutes without falling.
  • After that, the training duration can be extended as desired
  • To achieve the best possible results, training at least 3 times a week for at least 20 minutes is recommended
  • Switch to the other side after half of the time to work all muscles equally

The start

The start
For children, the fun of movement is the first priority. To familiarise themselves with the hula hoop, the children can first try something out and try to make it swing. If, for example, the parents have a hula hoop themselves, the correct movement can be practised and demonstrated together. Together it is even more fun.
