Information on the disposal of waste batteries
The following information is intended for persons who use batteries or products with built-in batteries and do not resell them in the form in which they were supplied (end users):
1. Free return of waste batteries
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally required to return waste batteries so that they can be disposed of properly. You may take waste batteries to a municipal collection point or to a local retailer. As a distributor of batteries, we are also required to take back waste batteries; however, our take-back obligation is limited to waste batteries of the types that we stock or have stocked as new batteries. You may therefore either return such waste batteries to us with sufficient postage or hand them in free of charge directly at our dispatch warehouse at the address stated in our legal notice.
2. Meaning of the battery symbols
Batteries are marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol (see below). This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. For batteries containing more than 0.0005% by mass of mercury, more than 0.002% by mass of cadmium or more than 0.004% by mass of lead, the chemical symbol for the substance concerned appears below the wheeled-bin symbol – “Cd” stands for cadmium, “Pb” for lead and “Hg” for mercury.
